“Casas Lar” is a project of temporary shelter for children and adolescents of both sexes, giving priority to sibling groups. The children are referred by the Children’s Court and the Tutelary Council.
The project is developed in two homes that work as units integrated in the community, with an adequate physical infraestructure and a friendly environment.
To provide a good service, “Casas Lar” welcome a total of eight children, accompanied by a social mother and a social substitute mother. The technical support staff (social workers, psychologists, educators, coordinators…) do not reside in the home, but do their work at the office of the Itaka-Escolapios Foundation.
The children are between 4 and 18 years old (up to 10 to be admitted) with the possibility of working with the families.
The project staff is made up of: a social worker, a psychologist, two social mothers, two sobstitute mothers, four educational volunteers for the various activities and a program coordinator.
