This past weekend a training meeting took place in Lekun Etxea with the young people participating in the SAL project. Seven young people from the Province of Emmaus (2 from Seville, 2 from Bilbao and 3 from Vitoria) who will travel to Valencia (Venezuela), Anzaldo and Cochabamba (Bolivia) this summer to share the mission in these presences.
The SAL project includes a training programme both before and after the experience in the south. During the previous year of training, the weekend meeting is an important moment, as the young people get to know the people they are going to travel with for the first time. During the sessions, the young people have learned more about the Piarists’ work in southern countries, they have reflected on community life and they have also been able to meet online the people who will welcome them this summer, as well as resolving doubts and dealing with practical aspects.
It was a time for getting together in which there was no lack of laughter, games and walks in the surrounding area. We hope it has motivated them even more to face this summer’s experience.
