Family Christmas! Volunteers in social work

Last 24 December the Piarist Volunteers of Yaounde all met for the usual celebration of “Christmas in the Family”. This activity which is celebrated every year consist of visiting an orphanage or a centre of children care with difficulties to share with them the joy of Christmas. This year it was the Fondation Petit Dan and Sarah that was chosen. This centre is situated in the outskirts of Yaounde town and has close to 60 children from different origins and backgrounds: orphans, abandoned children, children from divided or unstable families, children of single poor mothers… The Foundation just suffered a tragedy, one of the children committed suicide in the centre itself. Added to their physical presence as a source of comfort and great joy, the volunteers offered them gifts of different kinds just like the Three Wise Men.

After the guided visit by the Founder of the centre, the volunteers had a session of animation and games with the children before receiving a formative talk from Br. Antoine Edang and Fr. Albert le Grand Mabou. The visit continued with the blessing of children, the decoration of Christmas tree and the offering of gifts to the Centre.

Congratulations to these children who listened to the invitation of the Angels and went to the manger to meet the child Jesus in the face of each of these poor children.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2013!
