This Friday, April 24th, a new meeting of the General Management Team of the Itaka-Escolapios network was held by videoconference. This international team, made up of people from the demarcations of Brazil, Emmaus and Bethany connected from two countries (Brazil and Spain), has been entrusted with the mission of economically monitoring the network, paying particular attention to the situation caused by the confinement measures or curfews decreed in all the countries where Itaka-Escolapios is present.
The economic monitoring and the adaptation of budgets to the new circumstances are not only a necessity but an obligation in these times in which, although many projects are stopped due to the confinement measures, Itaka-Escolapios is reinventing itself to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable people who will suffer the most the economic and social consequences due to the covid-19.
This team will continue to meet continuously while the confinement measures last in the countries in order to try to support the response that is being organized in each place to continue attending to the children in the schools, boarding schools and homes, young people in the literacy programs, follow-up by telematic means of the classes in our Leisure Time Schools and the needs attended to by our Socioeducational Centers, among many other initiatives that are being maintained and strengthened in spite of the difficulties.
In addition, the team is collaborating with other teams in the network in the search for additional funds to meet all the needs that continue to arise.
