Solemn Inauguration of Casa Calasanz: Our First Institutional Shelter in Belo Horizonte

09-09-2026

On August 25, we celebrated a historic milestone for our mission with the solemn inauguration of Casa Calasanz, the first Institutional Shelter in the Piarist presence in Belo Horizonte. The project is dedicated to providing a safe and structured environment to care for boys aged 7 to 12 who are at risk.

The opening ceremony was attended by officials from the Piarist Network of Brazil-Bolivia, Itaka Piarists, and representatives of the Belo Horizonte City Government, underscoring the importance of the partnership between the institution and public authorities in safeguarding children’s rights.

Inaugurating Casa Calasanz on August 25—the very day we celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph Calasanz—makes this moment deeply symbolic for our entire network. Our purpose with this new home is clear: to care for, protect, and transform the lives of those most in need, continuing the work that Calasanz began more than 400 years ago.

Casa Calasanz represents our living commitment to stand by the little ones, ensuring that our children have the opportunity to grow up with dignity, affection, and hope.
