THE PIARISTS IN WEST AFRICA AND THE BOARDING SCHOOLS IN SENEGAL
The Piarists maintain a stable and permanent presence in Senegal since 1963, seeking to provide quality education for Senegalese children. For this, they have 4 primary schools, 3 secondary schools, 2 farm-schools and 1 technical center, which in total attend to more than 2.000 girls and boys.
Last year was the first in which the Piarist presence in West Africa joined the Itaka-Piarist solidarity network. In West Africa, the Piarists are, in addition to Senegal, in the Ivory Coast and will soon be in Burkina Faso.
It is worth noting that among the projects supported by the Itaka-Piarists in West Africa are 5 boarding schools and 1 day care center in Senegal, 2 social centers in Senegal and in the Ivory Coast, the Calasanz Movement and catechesis groups in Senegal and in the Ivory Coast (soon to be in Burkina Faso), and literacy projects for immigrants in various places, as well as other work to promote volunteering.
Next, you can download 2 files to work in the classroom in order to delve into the reality of Senegal and into the Piarists in the country.
