The Social Center serves the population of the Feu Rosa and Vila Nova de Colares neighborhoods, which are marked by high levels of violence and pockets of poverty. The neighborhoods emerged in the 1980s as a result of the displacement of people from towns and slums in the city of Vitória, affected by landslides that buried houses and forced many homes to be vacated.

Left destitute by the public authorities of the time, these families migrated to the region, creating irregular housing. There are good public education facilities, but the same cannot be said for health, leisure and social assistance. Children who attend school usually spend the rest of the day on the streets. The region was included in the Federal Government's “Territory of Peace” program due to the high rate of violence and homicide among young people.

ATTENDANCE 2023: During the year 2023, Itaka-Escolapios Serra served 693 children and adolescents in social assistance, educational and community activities, distributed as follows:

- S. Convivência e F. Vínculos;

- Calasanz Awakening Program;

- Calasanz Apprentice Teenagers;

- Education Lever;

- Music and Dance.
