The Piarists arrived in November 2014 in Kinshasa, the capital of the country. A Congolese Piarist accompanied by a Cameroonian Piarist and another Guinean Piarist started the mission in Congo under the protection of the Piarist Province of Central Africa. The three Piarists thus formed the first community, located in the district of Lemba. At present the Piarists have two communities in the DRC, the one already mentioned in Kinshasa and another one hundred kilometers to the south, in Kikonka.

Itaka-Piarists opened its office in Kinshasa in 2017, being officially recognized in April 2018. The office accompanies the projects that Itaka-Escolapios shares with the Pious School in the capital of the country and in Kikonka, an urban agglomeration near the municipality of Kisantu.
