Itaka- Escolapios receives a grant for the social protection of groups affected by the DANA
The Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs, and Agenda 2030, through the Third Sector Platform, has awarded us a grant for the social protection of groups and populations affected by the DANA.
In a few days, it will be six months since the DANA devastated several regions in the south of Valencia. Although the situation has improved in recent months, largely thanks to the solidarity of thousands of citizens who rallied from the outset, there is still much work to be done.
The Itaka-Escolapios Foundation has collaborated as much as possible in various tasks related to recovery after the DANA: from cleaning up the mud in the first weeks after the disaster, to compiling a list of aid and other information of interest to those affected, which has been published and can be requested, as well as a network of professionals who can collaborate in the reconstruction.
The new grant we have received from the Third Sector Platform will help us in our aim to assist those who still need it most. Two key actions will be to support the recovery of the Sant Josep de Calassanç school in Algemesí, which was badly damaged by the DANA, and to organize a volunteer camp to visit different organizations and provide whatever help is needed.
