The project “Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene for the Girls and Boys of the Tchoum Primary School in Bamendjou,” in Cameroon, has been funded by the City Council of Tafalla with 15,000 euros. This project aims to create a healthy school environment that ensures the full realization of the right to a quality education for boys and girls in the dispersed rural community of Tchoum, located in the West Region of Cameroon. To this end, the project seeks to ensure that the school has adequate WASH infrastructure and that the school community adopts healthy hygiene practices.

With the help of this grant from Tafalla, funding from the Ibercaja Foundation, and the Foundation’s own funds, Itaka-Escolapios will carry out this project based on three pillars: Strengthening hygiene knowledge and practices among students, teachers, and families; constructing a well with a hand pump, latrine blocks, and handwashing stations with soap and water; and training the educational community to ensure the maintenance, sustainability, and impact of this project.
