We celebrate the start of the extraordinary regularization process for migrants
The Itaka-Escolapios Network joins the Network of Entities for Solidarity Development (REDES), of which we are a member, the Spanish Conference of Religious (CONFER), Caritas, and the Migration Department of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, in celebrating the announcement of a process that will lead to the extraordinary regularization of migrants living in our country.
After numerous demands for regularization, such as the collection of signatures for the Popular Legislative Initiative in which more than 900 organizations and more than 600,000 signatories joined us, the Council of Ministers has finally approved the start of this process to respond to the irregular administrative situation of migrants who could benefit from ordinary channels and who were being socially excluded.
This is “a measure of political, ethical, and social responsibility,” emphasize the church entities, “towards a more just and inclusive society, where no one is relegated to invisibility and exclusion.”
We leave you with the full statement on the response to this announcement, which we joyfully join.
