THE ITAKA-ESCOLAPIOS CREW
We are a group of sailors captained by Saint Joseph Calasanz, we cross the seas in our paper boat to discover the Piarist reality around the world. This year, we have decided to start a great adventure: travelling to get close to Atambua. Come with us and discover this marvellous Indonesian town to which the Piarist Order arrived two years ago!
CALASANZ: he’s the captain of the ship, the person responsible for everything that happens in our vessel. He strives to fill every place in the world with “piety and letters”.
LOOK: from Asia, he’s an expert about Indonesia. He’s the ship’s look-out and he watches out for any danger that may arise. While he’s in the ship, he spends his whole day in the crow’s nest (lookout point on top of the main mast) to keep a close eye on every possible threat, he also informs the rest of the crew whenever he spots land or they reach their destination.
SUKAL: from Europe, he’s the ship’s cook and the oldest sailor. He makes sure that everybody is well fed. He loves surprising the rest with dishes from different countries and trying out all kind of ingredients. He usually says that “you have to give flavour to your life!”
MARINE: from Africa, even though she’s the youngest member of the crew, she’s the first mate of the ship. She and the captain lead the vessel through seas and oceans. She can read maps and has a great sense of direction, they nickname her “little GPS.”
BLA: from Central America, she’s the telegraphist. Her mission is informing and spreading the news of everything that’s going on. She tells if a ship is getting near, or if a storm is coming, she also sends SOS messages and telegrams to the sailors’ families so they know they’re alright…Just one curious fact: she can use the Morse code.
JIWA, from South America, she’s the chief engineer. She’s responsible for keeping in operation all the ship’s mechanical equipment. Her passion is assembling, disassembling and repairing everything they have inside the ship.
Do you want to join us in our adventure? Do you want to be one of our sailors? Board our ship, then!
Now you will find the basic elements to be a sailor in the Itaka-Escolapios Crew. Disguise yourself and board the ship. Together, we will get close to Atambua.
