Amaltea Project
Valencia
The Amaltea Socio-Educational Center is the result of the work started in 1988 by the Amaltea Association in the neighborhood of Velluters in Valencia. A constant and continuous work over the years carried out by a team of people dedicated to an innovative project in the neighborhood.
Throughout this time, the project has developed and grown, generating several decisive projects in the neighborhood and becoming so important that, in September 2016, they all became part, as a single social action project, within the structure of the Itaka Escolapios Foundation.
Amaltea gives its name to the goat that suckled Zeus and means “tenderness”.
Like Calasanz in his time (“if from their earliest childhood...”), we work with the youngest children until they come of age (from 5 to 18 years old) and their families, in a work oriented to the prevention of situations of risk and social exclusion. Our main programs are focused on:
- Educational reinforcement
- Accompaniment and family orientation
- Healthy alternatives for leisure and free time
- Psychosocial care
We participate and energize the Caixa Proinfancia program in the Ciutat Vella network.
