First ApS experience in Kinshasa
From April to June of this year 2025, our educational community will be carrying out a first methodological experience combining learning and service (APS) in the same curriculum. On April 25, 2025, the APS team sensitized all students at Complexe Scolaire Saint Joseph Calasanz. The aim of the event was to get the message across and explain the meaning of APS to the students, marking the official start of Learning and Service activities at the school complex.
The first stage was a field trip with the children, which allowed them to observe the unhealthy conditions in which we live, especially in the neighborhood of Manenga, where our school is located. After this visit, the second stage consisted of carrying out the learning phase through a series of classes: religion in kindergarten, projection of videos on creation and coloring with the aim of teaching the children about creation and how to take care of this creation. In primary school, the health and environmental education course (hygiene) and finally, in secondary school and humanities, the geography course which allowed the children to understand certain concepts such as the degradation of watercourses and soil; environmental sanitation and erosion.
This first PHC experience defines our real and realistic commitment to social transformation.
