Two days of APS 2 awareness activities at the Saint Joseph Calasanz School Complex
The Saint Joseph Calasanz School Complex in Kinshasa organized two days of awareness-raising and plastic waste recycling activities (Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18, 2026) as part of APS 2 (Service-Learning).
This APS project, which began in 2025, was developed in several stages: the first stage was a training workshop aimed at fostering development and a shift in mindset across our various neighborhoods in Kinshasa, particularly in Manenga, where the Saint Joseph Calasanz School Complex is located. The second stage involved the practical phase, namely raising awareness among students and the entire educational community, as well as the residents of the Manenga neighborhood, by explaining the dangers of plastic pollution and carrying out the recycling of this plastic waste. In addition to sorting the waste after recycling, plastic bottles without caps were placed in trash bags to be sent to a plastic collection facility, and plastic bottles were also placed in trash bags to be used for making trash cans.
This awareness-raising day organized by the students was of great importance because the residents of the Manenga neighborhood were educated about plastic pollution, and we believe that our planet will be healthier, and the population will be healthier.
