The Piarists arrived in Indonesia in 2013 to establish a presence in the southeast of the country, in one of the poorest areas, the province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), on the island of Timor, in the town of Atambua.
After learning about the reality of the situation and in dialogue with the local Church, they decided to promote a project to support local schools through a non-formal education program (ENF) and to create a boarding school (“asrama” in Indonesian) to serve young people from rural areas who must live in the city in order to attend secondary school.
Itaka-Escolapios has been working alongside the Piarists since the foundation was established, initially helping with the training of religious personnel and later supporting the construction of the boarding school.
