Akar project

The Akar Socio-Educational Center offers social services for children and adolescents in the Community of Madrid.

It is a socio-educational prevention and intervention program managed by the Itaka-Escolapios Foundation that works with children and adolescents in the southern part of Madrid, especially in the Latina district (Aluche neighborhood) and Carabanchel.

Akar is made up of hired staff, technicians (social educators), interns, and volunteers dedicated to working with the children and adolescents we serve.

Like Calasanz, we are committed to children and young people, seeking the comprehensive promotion of children, adolescents, and their families who are in situations of vulnerability or at risk of social exclusion.

We strive to strengthen the socio-educational community of which they are a part, ensuring that interventions are coordinated with other social agents.

Akar aims to be an alternative reference point for all children and adolescents in the neighborhood. We work with a series of educational tools that aim to promote the comprehensive development of participants, combining non-formal educational activities such as sports, art, and leisure and free time, and developing cross-cutting programs on health, good treatment, ecology, and the environment.

WHAT ARE WE COMMITTED TO?

  • Our actions will always be aimed at defending the rights of children and adolescents and meeting their needs, ensuring compliance.
  • Promoting the satisfaction of children, adolescents, and their families, as well as their participation in their development processes.
  • Working toward the comprehensive education of the individual based on their own experience for their proper personal development.
  • To intervene in a coordinated manner with all agents involved in the care of children and adolescents.
  • To comply with all legal requirements and regulations in force regarding security, personal data protection, and accessibility.
