Valuing our roots through the mother tongue in Kinshasa
To close out “Mother Tongue Month,” the educational community at the Saint Joseph Calasanz School Complex in Kinshasa celebrated a particularly meaningful day dedicated to promoting the mother tongue. During the day, students, teaching and administrative staff, and some parents gathered to promote understanding of local and indigenous languages, thereby strengthening social inclusion and respect for intangible heritage.
Several notable activities punctuated this celebration of the mother tongue at the school complex, including traditional storytelling, traditional songs, poems from different cultures, dances, writing workshops, and intercultural games. By celebrating this day, the San José Calasanz school complex reaffirmed its commitment to linguistic diversity, multilingual education, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
