New Photovoltaic System Installed at the Saint Joseph Calasanz School in Kinshasa

Between late August and early September, the installation of a photovoltaic solar energy system was completed at the Saint Joseph Calasanz School in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The project is part of an initiative led by Itaka-Escolapios, with the participation of Peñascal S. Coop. and the EKI Foundation, and funded by the Government of Navarra.

The new system will improve the stability of the school’s electricity supply, which is especially important given the deficiencies in Kinshasa’s electrical infrastructure and the frequent difficulties in accessing power. As a result, the school will be able to carry out its educational activities with greater reliability and continuity.

The system has been sized to meet the school’s current needs and facilitate the operation of the computer labs. Additionally, it allows for the future installation of air conditioning units to help cope with high temperatures during the hottest months.

The design and installation of the system were carried out by the EKI Foundation, an organization with extensive experience in solar energy projects on the African continent. The system also features remote monitoring, which will allow for checking its operation, detecting potential issues, and facilitating maintenance tasks.

The commissioning of this system represents a significant improvement for the Saint Joseph Calasanz School and is excellent news as the new school year begins.
