Saó develops actions aimed at the comprehensive, holistic, and community-based care of children and adolescents in situations of vulnerability and/or at risk of social exclusion. Its main objective is to promote the personal autonomy and the educational and social inclusion of boys, girls, and adolescents. Likewise, it provides support to their families, households, or caregivers, with the aim of preventing risk and neglect situations and facilitating the social integration path of minors who may need it, always in coordination and collaboration with primary care and/or the rest of the secondary care network of the Valencian Public Social Services System, as well as other potential social agents involved.
At Saó, intervention focuses on the family and relational nucleus of those attended, in order to protect them from a potentially deficient social environment, fostering healthy relationships and strengthening the household functioning. Likewise, efforts are made to implement programs and actions that promote social inclusion and personal development, placing personal autonomy as a key axis, and prevention as a central axis at all levels, thus helping to mitigate situations of risk and neglect, addressing the factors that foster exclusion.
The main lines of action of Saó as a Day Care Service for Coexistence and Educational Support for children and adolescents are:
- Identification of risk factors and indicators.
- Coordination with primary care services.
- Promotion of positive treatment within the family environment.
- Support for emancipation and autonomy.
- Social and educational intervention.
Thus, the Saó Day Care Center for Coexistence and Educational Support contemplates the development and implementation of a variety of programs that adequately meet the needs detected in the population served, adapted to the typology of the service provided. It attends children, adolescents, and youth whose personal, family, occupational, and social integration context requires educational and social support.
The target group of CADACE Saó are boys, girls, and adolescents from 4 to 17 years old and their families, mainly located in Patraix, Olivereta, and San Marcelino. It has places available to serve 36 children and adolescents, organized into educational groups differentiated by age; with direct attention primarily from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm. With these children and adolescents, comprehensive support is provided through school monitoring and assistance, non-formal education activities (play, leisure, and free time), family follow-up and psychosocial care, in addition to transversal programs across the center’s activities.
